Under our newly amended by-laws, candidates for the position of Claverack Election District (ED) Representative need to be confirmed by majority vote of Claverack Dems present at our Claverack Dems meeting prior to being put forward for a vote at the next Columbia County Democratic Committee meeting on July 28. We currently have 2 vacancies to fill. We will have a very short Zoom meeting just for this purpose on Tuesday, July 26 at 7:00 PM.

Election District Representatives have a very important role in elections and the operation of our County Democratic Committee. ED Reps collect signatures of registered voters on petitions to help candidates get on the ballot when they are running for office. As a result of COVID safety measures, we have actually improved our process of collection signatures. We hold drive through petition signing events, make appointments to visit voters doors, and have outdoor signing events at the Post Offices and other locations. ED reps are also voting members of the Columbia County Democratic Committee making important decisions on Committee policies, and endorsements for candidates.
